About OU International Women’s Conference 2026
In celebration of International Women’s Day 2026, the Mah Laqa Bai Chanda Center for Women’s Studies, Osmania University is organizing Give to Gain – Women Power for Sustainability, an international women’s conference. A women-powered, progressive society is built on the principle that empowering women is not just an obligation but a responsibility that generates significant, multi-faceted gains for everyone. When women are given equal access to education, leadership, and economic resources, the “Give to Gain” principle creates a multiplier effect, accelerating development, reducing poverty and fostering innovation. This International Women’s Conference marks a historic milestone in Osmania University’s enduring 109 years of academic legacy, marching towards excellence.
Empowering women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics (STEAM), Social Sciences, Law, Management and other disciplines act as a vital catalyst for a progressive and inclusive future. Women are solving complex global challenges by redressing gender silos leading to inter-disciplinary innovations. A “women-powered” society directly enhances family well-being, accelerates economic growth, and strengthens community resilience, all of which are fundamental to realizing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs). This conference seeks to provide a platform by inviting scholars to move beyond their domain knowledge, to transcend gender boundaries, engage in global dialogues that permeates the space between multitude aspects of society, including the classroom, laboratories, and the communities. .
The International Women’s Day celebrated on 8 March honours women’s rights, struggles and achievements, originating from early 20 century labour movements for suffrage and fair conditions, and it later evolved into a global push for equality in all spheres including education, finance, leadership, politics and social rights. With the integration of Artificial Intelligence, digital platforms and global advocacy, women now share voices, mentorship, and resources worldwide. When women advance, economies grow, innovation thrives, and communities become stronger, bringing us closer to the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
