
Hyderabad, India, March 24, 2026: Osmania University today inaugurated the three-day International Women’s Conference (OUIWC 2026) at its Tagore Auditorium, bringing together over 1,200 scholars, researchers, and global leaders. The conference is themed “Give to Gain: Women’s Power for Sustainability.”
The inaugural session was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kumar Molugaram, while Capt. Meera Siddhartha Dev, Retired Indian Army Officer and President of Rise and Inspire Forum, attended as the Chief Guest.
The programme began with a cultural invocation by Dr. Yashoda Thakore. Delivering the welcome address, Conference Convenor Prof. M. Vijjulatha highlighted the university’s commitment to creating a global platform for dialogue on women’s empowerment and sustainability.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Kumar Molugaram emphasized that the conference represents a vital step toward integrating women’s perspectives into global sustainability frameworks and reaffirmed the university’s role as a catalyst for social transformation.
In her keynote address, Capt. Meera Siddhartha Dev underscored the importance of discipline, empathy, and ethical leadership in achieving sustainable development, elaborating on the theme “Give to Gain.”
Among the Guests of Honour, Prof. V. Balakista Reddy encouraged students to develop solutions for social equity, while Dr. Manjula Anagani stressed the importance of women’s health and self-worth. Dr. P. Raghu Ram spoke on breast cancer awareness and emphasized the values of “Mother, Mother Tongue, and Motherland.”
The technical sessions featured prominent speakers including Gautami Tadimalla, who discussed women’s role in public life, and Prof. Rekha Pande, who presented insights into women’s movements in Telangana. Sessions on global innovation, governance, and health were led by experts such as Dr. Rohini Reganti, Dr. Zarina Parveen, and Ms. Tejaswini Yarlagadda. Administrative and governance perspectives were shared by Ms. Hephsiba Korlapati, IAS, and Ms. Sarita, IPS.
The event concluded with an address by Justice Surepalli Nanda, who highlighted legal rights and empowerment for women in India.
The programme was coordinated with the support of Registrar Prof. Gaddam Naresh Reddy and OSD to Registrar Prof. S. Jithendra Kumar Naik. The vote of thanks was delivered by Co-Convenor Prof. Hameeda Bee.
