Hyderabad : As Smart Cities Mission is completing three years this June 2018, Smart Cities Council India, part of the global consortium of smart cities, is organising the fifth Smart Cities Summit- Smart Urbanation at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), Hyderabad from March 22-23 to analyse the learnings and impact assessment.

The Summit will see participation from across the globe with more than 1,500 delegates and over 40 startups. More than 50 eminent speakers will debate and deliberate on the various opportunities and pertinent solutions with regards to smart cities.

Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary, Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT) departments of the Telangana Government, said, “As on today there are two designated smart cities (Hyderabad and Warangal) and another 10 cities in Telangana for infrastructure improvement under the Smart Cities Mission and AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) programmes. The Central Government has approved a budget of $8.3 billion for the first phase of the AMRUT project. Around $1.05 million was allocated to Telangana for administrative and office expenses (A&OE) in order to prepare the Service Level Improvement Plan (SLIP) / capacity building. In July 2015, the Ministry of Urban Development of Government of India released $0.46 million as advance for the 11 cities under AMRUT guidelines. I am sure this Summit will debate and plug loopholes, if any, apart from showcasing smart solutions going forward.”

Speaking on the Summit, Pratap Padode, founder and director, Smart Cities Council India, said, “The Summit is a platform for government and private stakeholders to dialogue and derive decisive ways to outline India’s urban reality and future strengthened with technological revolution. Now in its fifth year, the Summit, a highly-interactive conference and expo, showcases cutting-edge technologies, real-world solutions and proven strategies that India needs to build more livable, workable, sustainable cities.”
