Firm unveils tech-driven storage for media industry

A GLOBAL Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure provider, Huawei, has unveiled its innovative and technologically-driven cloud solution for broadcast media, particularly television networks in Nigeria.

At the unveiling in Lagos, yesterday, professionals in the media industry and government officials were engaged on the imperative of the innovative solution and how it could redefine the industry’s productivity.

The firm’s Cloud Manager, Hugo Hu, expressed the commitment of the tech firm to improve the performance of the TV networks and digital media in the country with Huawei Cloud, Virtual Human, among others.

In his remarks, Executive Director, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Lawal Ahmed, charged the media industry to prioritise technology innovation in enhancing their storytelling ability and content diversification.

He noted that innovative solutions have the potential to positively impact TV networks like NTA, enabling them to become more sustainable, innovative, and inclusive, and better serve the Nigerian public.

He said: “With Virtual Human, NTA and other channels can enhance viewers’ experience and engagement, increase efficiency and reduce costs, stay ahead of the competition in the digital landscape, expand its reach and revenue streams, and develop new and innovative content formats.”

Ahmed said the Huawei revolutionary cloud with a 5.5G network, would allow media organisations to have access to secure, scalable, and efficient media solutions, as well as enable them to manage and deliver their content with ease.

Director of News at TVC Communications, Stella Din-Jacob, observed that cutting-edge technology like Huawei Cloud would revolutionise the broadcast industry in terms of content creation, distribution and commercialisation.

Senior Special Assistant on Media to the President, Tunde Rahman, appealed to Huawei and other firms in the sector to support the government in delivering reliable technology to power critical intervention programmes. He also urged Huawei, with its ICT expertise, to engage Nigerian social media users on its responsible usage to help the society.
