ENDICOTT, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – Union-Endicott High School is being recognized for how it engages its students with technology.
UE’s Technology Education Department has been chosen as a program of excellence through New York State’s Technology Education and Engineering Association Awards Committee.
UE offers a variety of tech classes, including automotive, welding, construction, aerospace engineering, woodworking and others.
Students get hands on experience with the trades while staying in their district, instead of attending BOCES.
One of the three tech teachers at UE, Tom Palazzo hopes this award will attract new job and internship experiences for his students.
Technology Engineering Teacher at Union-Endicott High School, Tom Palazzo says, “There’s so many jobs out there in the trades right now. Whether it’s construction, or automotive, or welding, or CNC Machining, they’re all looking for local students out of high school that want to learn and want to join their unions or companies.”
The high school’s tech teachers, Palazzo, Corey Munn, and Mike Wichowski accepted the award at the state’s annual conference.
UE will now move on to represent New York State for the International Technology Educators and Engineering Association’s Program of Excellence Award.
