Tennis team ready to go

The Shawsheen Tech tennis team opened the season on Tuesday ready to defend its Commonwealth Athletic Conference title for the fifth straight season.

Last year the Rams were 11-1 overall.

Senior Ethan Hines will once again lead the way for Shawsheen along with fellow returning players Jasmine Johansen, Sarah Johansen, Jake Metcalfe, Christian Rivera, Trevor Engel and Faith Martin.

New faces to the team include Josh Powderly, Andre Guerro, Corey Kirchner and Tim Niles.

“The team is working extremely hard,” said coach Jay Tildsley. “We have been on top for the last four years and the players are digging in deep during this pre-season and working extremely hard. Ethan Hines has a career record of 44-2 and will be the leader of this team. We started with a goal in the offseason to be the very best and if preseason is any indicator, look out for these Rams.”
