Qualcomm is gearing up for the launch of its Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 mobile platform in India, with an exclusive event scheduled for May 14, 2024. Here is everything you need to know about the chipset.

Qualcomm is preparing to launch its Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 mobile platform in India. The exclusive India launch event of the chipset will be hosted in the country on May 14, 2024, at 12:30 PM IST.
The chipset first made its appearance with the launch of Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro in China on March 21. The recently launched Realme GT Neo 6 in China also draws power from the same chipset. However, it has yet to make a debut in India. Since Qualcomm is set to announce the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 mobile platform in India next week, we can expect to see smartphones powered by this chipset pretty soon.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3: Specifications
Qualcomm already unveiled the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 globally as a “premium” and “personalised” mobile platform, curated from the Snapdragon 8-series platforms. The 8s Gen 3 features a 64-bit architecture with 1 Prime Arm Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.0 GHz, 4x performance cores clocked at 2.8 GHz, and 3x efficiency cores clocked at 2.0 GHz.
The new mobile platform comes with support for on-device generative AI at up to 10B parameters and supports multi-modal AI models across different use cases. The Gen AI model also supports 30+ LLMs (large language models) and LVMs (large vision models).
The chipset claims to offer an intuitive capture experience with the help of Qualcomm Spectra Triple Cognitive ISP, allowing support for a 200 MP camera, AI camera capabilities with real-time Semantic Segmentation individually optimising up to 12 layers of photos and videos.
It promises a hyper-realistic mobile gaming experience with Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, including real-time hardware-accelerated Ray Tracing and support for Quad HD+ display with 144 Hz refresh rate or 4K display at 60 Hz refresh rate in addition to HDR10, HDR10+, HDR vivid, and Dolby Vision support.
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 also comes with support for Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite for lossless high-def sound, which includes Qualcomm Aqstic Speaker Max Technology, Qualcomm aptX Lossless, and LE Audio with Auracast broadcast audio.
The chipset supports an AI-accelerated Snapdragon X70 5G modem, Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 Mobile Connectivity System, and high band simultaneous multi-link for better connectivity experience. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is based on a 4nm process technology and supports UFS 4.0 storage, LPDDR5x memory, and Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 technology.
