Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced the expansion of the Circle to Search feature to more Pixel and Samsung smartphones, foldables, and tablets. It was later expanded to the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones.

Google is now further expanding the Circle to Search feature to more devices, starting this week. The feature will arrive in Pixel 7A, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet as well as the two-year-old Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and the Pixel 6A.

Just recently, Samsung announced the arrival of Galaxy AI, including Circle to Search, to more Galaxy smartphones, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5. The feature will be available to users via the One UI 6.1 update, which is set to roll out in the US this week.

Making the announcement via a post on X, Pichai wrote that soon users will be able to use the Circle to Search feature to instantly translate whatever is on their screen without switching apps.

The feature is able to do a lot more, including all the action Google Lens offers. It allows users to learn more about almost anything on their screens quickly with a gesture, without requiring them to switch apps.

How to use the feature

To use the feature, you need to long-press the Home button or long-press the navigation handle. You can then circle, highlight, scribble, or tap text or images on your smartphone’s screen to select and search for them on Google. You can also refine your search by adding text in the search bar. Your search results appear at the bottom of the screen. The Circle to Search feature also offers AI-powered overviews based on the text or multisearch queries.
