Former Governor of several Indian States, Krishan Kant Paul reached Lovely Professional University campus recently, where he kindled latest knowledge among LPU Students on ‘Smart City & Cyber Securities’ through his expertise. Interacting with the students of diverse streams, Mr Paul guided them how to control cyber-crimes; how cyber security can be taken to the masses; how renewable energy resources to be best utilized in a smart city; how cyber space is common to all; and, much more. Prior to this, LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal greeted the distinguished speaker at the campus and let students know about his illustrious achievements throughout his high profiled administrative career.
Complementing and congratulating LPU team for selection of topic of the day, latest & smart facilities at the campus, Paul inspired students to feel honoured on studying at one of the best campuses. Delivering on the topic, he informed students that smart city and cyber securities are interlinked topics and these should be considered in unison. In late nineties, information sector emerged as power revolution and keeping pace with the time India is a global player now.
Presently, improving the civic services with smart solutions to infrastructure and more, smart cities are on the rise, where artificial intelligence (AI) along with Internet of Things (IoTs) is playing major role in improving quality of life. With this needed cyber security is also to play major role, as cyber space and its access to all is open and easy. In order to have faith of the people in such systems, related governments should ensure checks in unauthorized intrusion in data, where a secure cyber space is must. For this strengthening of the Law should be there.
Talking about ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) computer system, Abhay Software implemented in Andhra Pradesh; elite guest invoked all, “we must have a control on Artificial Intelligence. Moreover, an international committee based on all stakeholders should uphold common International Laws on Cyber Securities. Ultimately, supremacy of human mind has to be ensured. Otherwise, fictional humanoids can become reality and pose threat to the humanity”
Highlighting, in addition to being former Police Commissioner of Delhi, Member of Union Public Service Commission; versatile genius who interacted with LPU students, Krishan Kant Paul had also been Governor of many Indian States including Uttarakhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland. A PhD in Fluorine chemistry, Paul had rightly been chosen for his expertise on the topic, as he has experience of working in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) & the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) of the country. In addition, he has wide-ranging experience of urban policing, and is known world-wide for cracking the first ever cricket betting racket. However, Mr Paul has maintained his touch with the academics and continued writing on various matters of current interest.
