DRDO Hosts 8th Technology Council Meeting to Enhance Security Capabilities

The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) recently convened its 8th Technology Council Meeting aimed at bolstering security measures. The gathering, chaired by DG Smt Chandrika Kaushik, assessed the integration of DRDO technologies into the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Police, and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Virtual participation from various DRDO laboratories nationwide facilitated comprehensive discussions, outlining a strategic roadmap for the next six months. Notably, an exhibition showcased cutting-edge DRDO-developed products across multiple domains including Weapon systems, Communications, Internal security, VIP security, and Sustenance.

Key stakeholders, including IGs from BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, NDRF, NSG, Assam Rifles, IB, and Delhi Police, along with Advisor, MHA Smt Harcharan Kaur, contributed to the meeting’s success. Director of the Directorate of Low Intensity Conflicts (DLIC), Achary Addanki, led the proceedings, emphasizing DLIC’s pivotal role in coordinating efforts.

The meeting underscored DRDO’s commitment to advancing critical and futuristic technologies for defense purposes, aligning with the nation’s quest for self-reliance. An MoU signed between DRDO and MHA in 2012 continues to facilitate the integration of DRDO-developed technologies and products, aiding in the modernization of Central Police and Paramilitary forces, as well as state police forces.
