Amazon just announced the launch of its largest Echo Show smart display, the Echo Show 21, and an updated Echo Show 15. Both large smart displays will serve as smart home and entertainment hubs and as platforms to communicate with Alexa through voice and with friends and relatives through video calls.
The Alexa-enabled Echo Show 21 will “nearly double the viewing area of the Echo Show 15”, Amazon’s previous largest smart display. Both the new Echo Show 21 and 15 will feature improved audio quality than the previous Echo Show 15, with double the bass and room adaptation technology.

Aside from improving the audio for streaming and video calls, Amazon upgraded the auto-framing camera on both devices to double the field of view of the old Echo Show 15 and reduce noise.
Amazon has apparently heeded consumers’ requests and is making the smart displays more ambient to fit with existing home decor. The Echo Show 15 and Echo Show 21 will both feature widgets to display calendars, shopping lists, news headlines, and sports scores.
Like the previous Echo Show 15, the new Echo Show 21 and 15 will support streaming with Fire TV apps and include an Alexa Voice Remote and mounting equipment. Amazon says both devices feature support for Wi-Fi 6E, making these the first Echo displays to support the technology.
The Echo Show is Amazon’s smart home display with Alexa built-in, working as a smart panel to control anything from smart home devices to calendars, with the convenience of having hands-free access to Amazon Alexa for voice control.

Alexa has been Amazon’s voice assistant for a decade. Though Amazon had plans to give the artificial intelligent (AI) assistant the power of generative AI last year, this has proven to be a significant challenge for the company.
The Echo Show 15 is available now at $300, while the Echo Show 21 is priced at $400. Both devices double as smart home hubs, supporting Thread and Zigbee and Matter controller functionality.
