New Delhi, 31 October 2026: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla today paid rich tributes to the revered spiritual luminaries Acharya Shri Ram Sharma Ji and Mata Bhagwati Devi Ji at the Shatabdi Samaroh 2026, recalling their invaluable contributions to India’s spiritual renaissance, social transformation and nation-building. He observed that the centenary celebration was not merely an occasion to commemorate the past, but a celebration of a creative movement that had transformed countless lives across the country.

Paying homage to Acharya Shri Ram Sharma Ji during his address at the centenary celebration organised by Gayatri Parivar in New Delhi, Shri Birla said that through Akhand Jyoti, he had spread the light of spirituality across the country and inspired people with the ideals of individual development, family development, social development and nation-building. His inspiring resolve, “We will change, and the era will change”, had become a guiding principle for people in India and across the world. Through the Gayatri Mantra and yajna, Acharya Ji connected people with spiritual consciousness and paved the way for inner purity and spiritual awakening.

Recalling his personal association with the Gayatri Parivar, Shri Birla said that he had witnessed the transformative influence of Acharya Ji’s spiritual philosophy even in remote villages and hamlets, where it had helped people overcome difficult circumstances, superstition and harmful social practices. The movement had not only brought about a change in people’s social lives but had also contributed to their personal growth, character-building and a deeper sense of responsibility towards society and the nation.

Paying his respectful homage to Mata Bhagwati Devi Ji, the Lok Sabha Speaker highlighted her extraordinary life of maternal affection, compassion, penance, dedication and service. He said that her contribution went far beyond spiritual awakening, as she spearheaded a significant movement for social transformation and women’s empowerment at a time when women across the country faced numerous social challenges and restrictive practices. He observed that Mata Ji inspired women to pursue education, develop self-confidence and become self-reliant. Her life and teachings demonstrated that the development of a woman’s personality within a household lays the foundation for the progress of the entire family and society. Her maternal affection and compassionate guidance transformed the lives of countless women and gave a new impetus to their social and spiritual empowerment. An environment rooted in spiritual awareness and Indian values, he said, played an important role in nurturing positive attitudes, strengthening families and building a progressive society.

Shri Birla appreciated the Gayatri Parivar’s sustained efforts to take India’s spiritual heritage, cultural wisdom and value-based philosophy to different parts of the world. He noted that the organisation, through its work in several countries, had been advancing the ideals of individual, family and social development in keeping with contemporary needs. He also appreciated the institution’s commitment to education rooted in spirituality, culture and Indian values.

Referring to the university established by Acharya Ji, the Lok Sabha Speaker said that its emphasis on spirituality, cultural values and character-building from the early stages of education was commendable.

He expressed appreciation for the institution’s initiatives in value-based education, women’s awakening and empowerment, and social reform. He also lauded Dr. Chinmaya Pandya for taking India’s spiritual traditions and cultural values to the world while simultaneously familiarising people with developments in science and technology. Emphasising the relevance of spirituality in the contemporary world, Shri Birla said that at a time when people in several countries were experiencing stress and depression, the message of inner peace, spiritual strength and a purposeful life had become increasingly significant. The Gayatri Parivar’s spiritual centre, he observed, provided people with peace of mind, self-confidence, determination and a sense of direction in life. Shri Birla called upon the Gayatri Pariwar to continue carrying the light of Akhand Jyoti to every village and every section of society. He emphasised that this mission must continue until the life of the last person in society was touched by positive transformation. The ideals of spirituality, religion, culture, character-building and nation-building, he said, must remain central to this endeavour.

Expressing confidence in the continued contribution of the Gayatri Parivar, Shri Birla said that the spiritual energy and consciousness inspired by Acharya Shri Ram Sharma Ji and Mata Bhagwati Devi Ji would continue to illuminate lives and strengthen the foundations of a harmonious, enlightened and developed society.
