The Tewksbury High girls lacrosse team has already checked all the boxes for its regular season.
The Redmen have surpassed their last season’s win total of seven, clinching a playoff berth and winning record with their 10th triumph on Tuesday.
But that’s no reason to get comfortable.
“Staying focused, keeping our passing clean, and trying to build on what we’ve been doing,” Redmen coach Erin Murphy said of the mindset heading into the final four games. “We can’t get complacent.”
And the Redmen don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon, putting forth another solid week on the turf.
After a 15-3 loss to Bedford, Tewksbury picked up wins over Lowell and Shawsheen Tech to improve to 10-6.
Kat Schille netted a hat trick against Bedford last Tuesday.
Tewksbury responded with a 12-5 win over Merrimack Valley Conference-rival Lowell on Saturday against an improved Red Raiders squad.
“It’s always good to get the MVC wins,” Murphy said. “Lowell came out a little bit tougher than before, which is always nice to see for other teams as well. We worked well.”
Emily Picher led the way with six goals, followed by Ava Nordbruch (two), Sarah Doherty (two), and Julia Moura (one).
Picher stayed hot in a 9-6 downing of Shawsheen on Monday, notching three goals while securing seven draw controls. Moura and Nordbruch scored twice as Emma Giordano and Grace Willey found twine for the Redmen.
Lydia Barnes made seven saves between the pipes.
“They were doing a couple of different defenses to start,” Murphy said. “It took us a bit to figure out what one they were settling into and how we could best run our offense. They were doing a backward defense for a bit, and then they were in the zone for a time.”
As four games remain on the regular season docket, Murphy hopes her team can beat the injury bug while closing out the campaign with some conference wins.
“Just keeping everybody as healthy as we can,” she said. “Getting the 10th win today (was huge). I think we’ll stay above 32, but getting the 10th win guarantees it anyway. We have three MVC games left, so it would be nice to beat the two that we already beat. I know Haverhill will be a battle.”
