Meta VP of virtual reality software Horizon leaves Company

Vivek Sharma, Vice President of Horizon Virtual Reality Social Media Software, is leaving the company, CNBC reported, citing a company spokesman.

Sharma has worked at parent company Facebook Meta for the past six years, holding senior roles in the market and games departments, and most recently in the nascent metaverse division.

As vice president of Horizon, Sharma, who is based in the Seattle area, has overseen various VR projects such as the social media service Horizon Worlds, which is an online game like Second Life upgraded for virtual reality. Other Horizon products include the VR workspace collaboration app Horizon Workrooms and the Horizon Venues live event app, which was moved to the main Worlds app this summer.

He added that the Horizon team will now report directly to Vishal Shah, Metaverse VP of Metaverse.
