31ST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON VLSI DESIGN AND THE 17TH INTERNATIONAL
CONFERENCE ON EMBEDDED SYSTEMS RETURNS TO PUNE IN JANUARY 2018
Industry and Academic Luminaries Expected to Extensively Discuss the Design and Use of Safe, Secure and Intelligent Systems in Various Applications such as Robotics, Self-Driving Cars, Automation and Artificial Intelligence.
The organizing committee of the 31st International Conference on VLSI Design (VLSID) and the 17th International Conference on Embedded Systems announced that the VLSI Society of India (VSI) has selected Pune to host the conference for the second time. The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency hotel from January 6th, 2018 to January 10th, 2018.
The conference coming back to Pune is a testament to the rise and increasing importance of Pune as a high technology hub, said Jaswinder Ahuja, President of VSI and Managing Director of Cadence Design Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd. We expect that strong participation from local academic institutions, OEMs and embedded systems and semiconductor companies will make the conference successful.

The technical program at the conference is expected to cover a broad range of topics relevant to electronic and embedded system design and foster discussions between top industry and academic experts, and attendees. The original high-quality peer-reviewed papers presented at the conference will be published on IEEE Xplore.
About Exhibits Area
As part of this conference, sponsors and exhibitors will have an opportunity to showcase their products demonstrations, achievements, organization capabilities to the potential customers and to the academia in an exhibit space of ~10,000 Sq. feet. In addition, a separate exhibit area for start-up companies to showcase their products will be provided at a nominal cost.

About Tutorial Program
The conference features a two-day dedicated world class tutorial program, with speakers from renowned universities all over the world, including Stanford, University of Texas, Penn State, Georgia Tech, IIT Madras, University of Wisconsin, Madison, University of Florida, Purdue, Colorado State and IIT Kharagpur. The tutorial topics span from Analog/Mixed-signal IC design to emerging FinFET transistor technology to Embedded Systems applications such as “Assistive Technology for Visually Impaired”, Safe Autonomous Systems and IoT security.
This joint conference is a forum for researchers and designers to present and discuss current topics in VLSI design, electronic design automation, embedded systems, and enabling technologies. Two days of tutorials will be followed by three days of regular paper sessions, special sessions, and embedded tutorials. Industry presentation sessions along with exhibits, panel discussions, Design Contest, and Education Forum, round off the program.
The theme for the conference is Safe and Secure Intelligent Systems, that explores the ability of VLSI and embedded circuits and systems to positively impact several application areas – robotics, industrial control, automation, artificial intelligence, smart cities and smart transportation. Example areas under the theme include (but are not restricted to) designing self-learning computational systems, improving the efficiency and accuracy of financial and medical systems, enabling robots to learn from experience and improve productivity, developing intelligent monitoring and control systems for smart grids, smart cities and smart transportation, and using integrated circuits and embedded systems to leverage novel algorithms and technologies.
