Association for Computing Machinery Releases Schedule Details for Selection of 2019 Conferences

• Events to Showcase the Latest and Most Exciting Innovations in AI, Data Mining, Computer-Human Interaction, Software Engineering

New York, NY, January 15, 2019 : ACM, the Association for Computing Machinery, the leading professional association for computer scientists and software engineers, today released event details for a selection of leading-edge research conferences taking place at various locations around the world in 2019.

Many of these conferences have earned preeminent status in their respective fields, attracting attendees from around the globe to meet with colleagues, discover innovative trends, and address pressing issues in the digital world. These ACM Special Interest Group (SIG) events vary in size and represent the many diverse subdisciplines of the computing field. Each year, ACM presents approximately 170 conferences, workshops and technical symposia.

ACM FAT : ACM Conference on Fairness, Accountability and Transparency
A rapidly-growing, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed conference, ACM FAT publishes and presents work examining the fairness, accountability, and transparency of algorithmic systems. Research work from a wide variety of disciplines, including computer science, statistics, the social sciences, and law is presented to more than 600 attendees, including academic researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.

SIGCSE: 50th ACM Technical Symposium on Computer Science Education
ACM’s Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education’s 50th annual symposium is the largest computing education conference in the world and will attract more than 1,500 participants. The event offers leading-edge research in computer science pedagogy, discussion of the field’s challenges, sharing of best practices, and advocacy. Presentations of research findings, research posters, panel discussions, special sessions and workshops will focus on computing education tailored to higher education, K-12/novice learners, diversity, advanced topics, and learning/instructional styles.

CHI: Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems
ACM’s Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction’s premier international conference is widely recognized as the world’s most important showcase for human-computer interaction (HCI). Known as CHI, it gathers more than 3,000 top researchers, scientists, and designers to present their latest research, solve their hardest problems, learn new material and build their networks. Held annually since 1982, the conference is where dozens of key HCI-generated products have been unveiled prior to market deployment, including multi-touch and 3D interaction, tangible interfaces, social networking, instant text messaging, personal health and elder care, fitness tracking, smart homes, Internet of Things, human-robot interaction and wearable devices.

FCRC: Federated Computing Research Conference
FCRC 2019 assembles a spectrum of 12 affiliated research conferences and workshops into a week-long coordinated meeting. This model retains the advantages of the smaller conferences, while at the same time, facilitates communication among researchers in different fields in computer science and engineering. Each morning, FCRC features a joint plenary talk on topics of broad appeal to the computing research community. SIGMOD/PODS: International Conference on Management of Data
This conference brings together ACM’s Special Interest Group on Management of Data (SIGMOD), together with PODS, the premier international conference on the theoretical aspects of database systems. SIGMOD/PODS is considered the most important and selective conference in the field, attracting more than 900 researchers, practitioners and developers.

SIGIR: 42nd International ACM Conference on Research and Development in Information Retrieval
ACM’s Special Interest Group on Information Retrieval, the conference is recognized as the most significant event in the field. SIGIR 2019 brings together information retrieval professionals to explore new research, systems and techniques that are changing how organizations and individuals access information. The field of IR is expansive, touching all industries and almost every aspect of our daily lives and society.

KDD: 25th ACM SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining
Presented by ACM’s Special Interest Group on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, KDD is the world’s longest-running and largest data mining conference, and has been the venue where concepts such as big data, data science, predictive analytics and crowdsourcing were first introduced. KDD 2019 will showcase leading-edge research papers in data science and feature exciting keynote addresses by industry leaders, as well as informative tutorials and workshops.

MobiCom: 25th Annual International Conference on Mobile Computing and Networking
ACM Special Interest Group on Mobility of Systems, Users, Data and Computing’s (SIGMOBILE) flagship annual conference – now in its 25th year – is a highly selective, premier international forum for addressing networks, systems, algorithms and applications that support mobile computers and wireless networks. It is widely recognized as where the connected world of tomorrow is first seen because of the number of technologies that have been unveiled here.

ESEC/FSE: European Software Engineering Conference and Symposium on Foundations in Software Engineering
This conference, organized by the ACM Special Interest Group on Software Engineering (SIGSOFT), brings together researchers, practitioners, and educators to exchange the latest research results and trends, as well as their practical application in all areas of software engineering.
