Chennai: The Greater Chennai police turns tech savvy to combat vehicle theft cases, as it launched a technology designed to instantly verify ownership of vehicles. The newly introduced portable cameras can automatically scan and detect vehicle registration numbers and cross-verify them with the database of stolen vehicles. If found to be stolen it will alert the cops nearby and help them nab the vehicle.
The new initiative was launched as part of the “Integrated Command & Control Centre” (ICCC) under the Chennai Safe City Project.
The important elements included by different cities in the Safe City projects include the identification of Crime Hot Spots in the City, Saturating such hot spots with increased CCTV surveillance, and Women Police Outposts.
Tamil Nadu digitises Athlete selection process in the state
