RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech (38-15, 15-6 CUSA) earned a 7-1 victory over Western Kentucky (32-19, 13-8 CUSA) on Sunday morning at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park. Late runs in the eighth inning secured the Bulldogs the series sweep over the Hilltoppers.
WKU jumped on the board first after an RBI groundout from Blake Cavill, putting them up 1-0 in the first inning. Tech pitcher Grant Hubka did not surrender a run after that, going 4.2 innings of work with (H, R, 5 BB, 2 K).
Sam Brodersen also delivered on the mound for Tech, going 3.1 innings of work with (H, 2 BB, 5 K).
After six scoreless frames, the Bulldogs tied the game with anEthan Bates solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
In the eighth inning, Tech unloaded for six unanswered runs. Cole McConnell started the scoring after a two-RBI single that led to a Jorge Corona RBI single, sending McConnell home. Eventually, Michael Ballard and Adarius Myers capped off the big frame with a pair of RBI singles to put LA Tech up 7-1.
UP NEXT
Louisiana Tech will head to Virginia to take Liberty with a chance to win the Conference title. The Bulldogs are tied at the top of CUSA with Dallas Baptist. The first pitch of the Liberty series is scheduled for Thursday, May 16, at 5 PM and is to be televised on ESPN+.
