
Last Thursday, the Shawsheen Tech softball team dipped to 2-4 overall after a 15-6 loss to Lowell Catholic and a 13-1 defeat at the hands of Greater Lowell.
Against Greater Lowell, Alivia Imbimbo went 3 for 3 at the plate for the Rams and Haylee Johnston had the other Shawsheen hit.
Against Lowell Catholic, Frankie Reardon was a standout for the Rams. She was 2 for 4, drove in two runs and scored twice.
Gianna Caruso was also 2 for 4 with an RBI while Johnston and Kayla Mason also drove in runs.
Imbimbo didn’t have a hit, but walked three times and scored twice while other Rams with two hits included Reagan Bowden and Hope DiDonato.
The Rams host Minuteman Regional and Northeast Regional this week on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
Baseball
Shawsheen Tech’s baseball team upped its record to 8-2 with three recent victories over Whittier Tech, Dracut and Northeast Regional.
In a 4-0 win over Dracut, Matt Flynn pitched 4.1 innings of one-hit ball to earn the victory.
Nate Galanis, Will Trach, Ryan Jamieson and Brody Amenkowicz all drove in runs for the Rams. Galanis had two hits on the day for Shawsheen.
In a 7-2 win over Northeast, Brendan Lee and Jamieson split the pitching duties with Lee tossing four innings and Jamieson going the last three.
Lukas Poirier had four hits and scored three times to lead the way while Amenkowicz had four RBIs to go with three hits.
Galanis had two more hits in the victory.
Lee and Jake Carr also had hits.
Last Friday, Shawsheen (8-2) went 11 innings before edging Whittier, 5-4, in a big Commonwealth Athletic Conference battle.
Poirier went eight innings on the mound and surrendered only one earned run, scattered six hits and struck out nine. He left the game with the score 4-4.
Robbie Welch tossed the remaining three innings and only allowed two hits to earn the win.
Shawsheen tied the game at four in the bottom of the seventh inning with back-to-back RBI hits from Amenkowicz and Dyllon Pratt, scoring Poirier and Galanis.
In the bottom of the 11th inning, Poirier got on with a base hit, stole second base, and then Galanis roped a ball to center for the game winner.
Pratt had two RBIs for the Rams.
Girls lacrosse
This was a week to remember for the Shawsheen Tech girls lacrosse team.
The Rams improved to 6-1 with two gritty victories, a one-goal triumph over Wilmington and a win by two goals over Nashoba Tech.
Izzy Ferguson scored the game winner in a 12-11 win against the Wildcats.
Ferguson ended up with five goals, leading a group of six scorers.
Fiona Rexford and Riley Rourke added two goals apiece while Alexis Fox, Cera Salter and Alyssa Constantiello each added a goal.
Goalie Mia Vacha made nine saves.
In a 9-7 win over Nashoba, Vacha made six saves behind a defense led by Maya Noyes and Valentina Mosquera.
Rexford’s three goals led the offense.
Ferguson and Judith Sloman had two goals apiece and Rourke and Natalia Pitta also added tallies.
Boys lacrosse
Two more games, two more lopsided wins.
The Shawsheen Tech boys lacrosse team moved to 6-0 on the season after blowout wins over Minuteman Regional and Nashoba Tech.
In a 15-2 shellacking of Minuteman, nine different Rams had at least one goal.
Zack Timmons, Chase Darcey and Jack Martins all finished with four points on the day. Martins had three goals and an assist while Timmons and Darcey each finished with two goals and two assists.
Shaun Ricchi added three points with two goals and one assist.
Kyle Gray also had a pair of goals for Shawsheen.
Others that chipped in with goals were Justin Thibert, Quinn Carbone, Charlie Shannon and Larry Cullity. Thibert contributed an assist as well.
In goal, Nate Malandain and Quinn Guinane split the victory.
Shawsheen beat Nashoba, 16-2.
Guinane had another easy win in net and seven players had two points or more.
Darcey had a goal and four assists, Timmons had two goals and two assists, Carbone erupted for four goals, Ricchi scored three times, Thibert had a pair of goals and both Martins and Gray chipped in with a goal and an assist.
Also adding goals was Jacoby Patterson and Niko Georgoulis and additional assists went to Mike Cedrone and Nick D’Amico.
