Google has laid off over 200 people in the US and some of those jobs may be moving to India and Mexico, according to a CNBC report citing the tech giant’s internal documents.
People in the Core teams, which include Python developer team, technical infrastructure, security foundation, and app platform developers, are the ones to have got the latest pink slips.
These are the latest firings in a series of layoffs since Alphabet, the holding company that owns Google and the world’s third-largest technology company, announced in 2023 that it would reduce its workforce by 12,000.
Last week, Alphabet announced a $70 billion share buyback and its first-ever dividend for shareholders after the fastest quarterly growth in nearly two years.
