All-American point guard Georgia Amoore is following coach Kenny Brooks from Virginia Tech to Kentucky. The move was relatively expected when Amoore entered the transfer portal, since she did so with a “do not contact” tag.
Brooks recruited Amoore from Australia, and she became a star, leading the Hokies to their first ACC Tournament championship and their first Final Four last season, then their first ACC regular-season title this year.
A two-time first-team All-ACC selection, Amoore averaged 18.8 points and 6.8 assists per contest this season and is Virginia Tech’s all-time assist leader. She has said she considers Brooks her American father figure.
Brooks also gained commitments from former Virginia Tech center Clara Strack, who spent this season as standout post player Elizabeth Kitley’s understudy, and junior-college prospect Amelia Hassett.
