Nagaland guv urges university students to lead India’s development

Kohima: Nagaland governor La Ganesan on Friday encouraged students at the state university to learn as much as possible and strive to excel globally, emphasising the importance addressing local challenges, innovate solutions, and inspire the next generation.

He was speaking at the 6th convocation ceremony of the Nagaland University at Lumami.

Addressing the convocation, Governor Ganesan commended the students for their hard work, dedication, and passion, which have propelled them to great heights. He highlighted the diverse paths that the graduates may undertake, whether joining the government, private sector, or pursuing further studies abroad.

Acknowledging the efforts of faculty members in imparting quality education, knowledge, skills, and human values, Ganesan emphasised the continuous nature of learning, stating, “learning never stops.”

He expressed confidence in the graduates’ abilities to positively impact lives and contribute to the nation’s progress.

Governor Ganesan also highlighted the significance of India’s development in the technological field and the world economy, emphasising the role of educational institutions in fostering innovation and curiosity among young minds.

Speaking about the National Education Policy 2020 and India’s vision of development, Governor Ganesan shared the government’s commitment to strengthen the foundation for a developed India by 2047.

He expressed optimism that Nagaland University graduates would play pivotal roles in realising India’s aspirations in various domains, including manufacturing, infrastructure, education, and sanitation.

The convocation saw the conferment of degrees to 156 graduates, including 86 gold medalists.

The ceremony, presided over by Dr. Samudra Gupta Kashyap, Chancellor, included declarations by Dr. Abemo, Registrar of Nagaland University, and reports presented by Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor.

The Governor was accompanied by officials from NEHU and Mizoram University, as well as government servants and public leaders.
