In case of SCs, under the recently revised ‘Pre- Matric Scholarships Scheme for SCs & Others’, w.e.f 2022-23, it has been decided to release Central share directly by the department into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through DBT after the release of due State share to the beneficiaries. So far, verified details of beneficiaries who have been paid the State share of the scholarship, have not been received from the State Governments/UT Administrations for the Academic Year 2022-23.
In case of OBCs, the YASASVI scheme was introduced in 2021-22, under which pre-matric scholarships are provided for, inter alia, OBC students. The scheme is implemented and administered in accordance with the procedures and State specific conditions laid down by the State Govts./UT administrations in this regard. The selection of students is done by the concerned States/UTs. The Scheme is implemented by the respective state governments and no such state wise data is maintained by this Ministry.
This information was given by The Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri A. Narayanaswamy in the Rajya Sabha in a written reply today.
